South Puget Sound invites community to enjoy high-school arts festival

OLYMPIA, Washington - An evening of music, theatre and fine arts awaits at South Puget Sound Community College's annual high-school Fine and Performing Arts Festival. On Saturday, January 22, local-area arts students will convene on the South Puget Sound campus for an all-day arts extravaganza complete with hard hat tours of the ever-evolving Center for the Arts, workshops led by college faculty and competitions judged by professional adjudicators. The day will culminate in a 7:30 p.m. awards ceremony where finalists will perform and exhibit their selections. South Puget Sound Community College invites community members to attend this ceremony, held in the campus Student Union Building.

For local youth pursuing studies in the arts, the Fine and Performing Arts Festival is something to look forward to. The Festival, now in its sixth year, not only offers students an opportunity to showcase their talent and hard work, but also a chance to compete for partial tuition scholarships to attend South Puget Sound Community College. The college encourages the community to help support these up-and-coming arts students by sharing in this annual event.

The awards ceremony is free to the public. For more information about the Fine and Performing Arts Festival and the Center for the Arts, visit www.spscc.ctc.edu/artsfestival or contact Cassie Welliver, Director for Center for the Arts, at (360) 596-5508.
