South Puget Sound presents Africa lecture series
OLYMPIA, Washington – A noon lecture series on contemporary African politics and culture will commence Friday, Feb. 10, at South Puget Sound Community College.
- “W.E.B. DuBois, Marcus Garvey, and Black Paris: Re-Interpreting the Cultural, Political and Economic Connections Between the Black Diaspora and Africa,” Babacar M’Baye, Professor, The Evergreen State College. Feb. 10, Student Union Building, Room 119.
- “African Textiles,” Deb Allen-Ba, textile collector. Feb. 16, Minnaert Center Gallery. The textile exhibit will continue through March 3.
- “Corruption and Misuse of Public Resources in Africa, with Specific Examples from Kenya,” Kamau Kinuthia, Professor, American River College. Feb. 24, Minnaert Center Main Stage.
The series is presented by the college’s International/Intercultural Activities and Studies Committees. Admission to the lectures is free.
