Activist/musician Anne Feeney in concert

OLYMPIA, Washington – Pittsburgh-based labor activist, folk singer/songwriter Anne Feeney performs at the Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts at South Puget Sound, Wednesday, April 26th, at 8:00 p.m. in the Main Stage Theater.

Called "the best labor singer in America" by Utah Phillips, Feeney spends much of the year on the road, organizing and performing at rallies, picket lines, and demonstrations. Her recent performances include appearances at the WTO demonstrations in Seattle, Solidarity Day in Washington D.C., and at the April 25, 2004 March for Women's Lives before 1.5 million.

Feeney's vast repertoire pulls from Irish, bluegrass, traditional, labor, pop, folk and contemporary material. She is as likely to sing a traditional song or an obscure gem by one of her many friends in the singer/songwriter circuit, as she is one of her own award-winning songs. Feeney’s anthem, “Have You Been to Jail for Justice?” is featured on Peter, Paul and Mary’s CD, “In These Times,” and also on “Carry It On."

Tickets are $10 general and $5 for students, seniors, and union members, and can be purchased online at www.spscc.ctc.edu/CFA, at the door up to 90 minutes prior to show time, or by calling the Center for the Arts Box Office at (360) 596-5501.
