South Puget Sound Community College to hold 2006 Commencement

More than 1,000 degrees, certificates and diplomas will be handed out, as South Puget Sound Community College holds it 2006 commencement ceremony June 16, 2006, at 6 p.m. on the grounds of the campus' soccer field.

This year, the college will hand out 1,022 degrees and certificates. Forty-three students have earned their high school diplomas and 23 will receive their GEDs.

The 2006 ceremony is the last for College President Kenneth J. Minnaert. He will retire from the college this year after more than 30 years of services. Adjunct Professor James Vosper will deliver the faculty address. Vosper, the longest serving adjunct professor on campus, is the first adjunct to speak to a graduating class.

Student Michael Luoma will be the student speaker at the event. Luoma, ASB Vice President for Administration and Finance, will receive an Associate of Science degree at the evening ceremony.

The South Sound Super Band, led by Trumpeter Andy Omdahl, will provide processional and recessional music during the commencement. The band will also entertain graduates with a rendition of Glen Miller’s In the Mood.

A reception will follow the awarding of degrees.
