Workshop provides FAFSA help for high school students

High school students looking for help with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid need to circle Jan. 28, 2007, on their calendars. That is the date of the first annual College Goal Sunday Washington workshop, which will be held in seven cities across the state.

The three-hour workshop, which starts at 2 p.m., offers students and their families free, on-site assistance in completing the FAFSA. Workshop locations include Seattle, Spokane, Tacoma, Everett, Olympia, Pasco, and Yakima. For more information, visit http://www.collegegoalsundaywa.org.

Students should bring their Social Security Number, driver license (if they have one), and any financial records related to income such as their parents’ most recent income tax returns and/or last pay stubs. However, even without such paperwork, students can get help completing part of the FAFSA. Parents are strongly encouraged to accompany their children.

Any student applying for federal financial aid for higher education is required to complete and submit a FAFSA. The College Goal Sunday Washington workshop is designed to make the application process easier and bring students closer to their dream of receiving a college diploma.
