Dance company visits South Puget Sound Community College

On Jan. 18 at 8 p.m., Washington state’s largest professional contemporary dance company, Spectrum Dance Theater, graces the stage at South Puget Sound Community College’s Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts.

The resident dance company for Seattle’s Moore Theatre, SDT attracts world-class dancers and produces engaging contemporary dance that generates local and national acclaim. In addition, the company, which is under the leadership of Donald Byrd, presents the Studio Series at its Madrona Dance Studios in Seattle and works to fulfill its mission of providing accessible dance to the community.

SDT’s performance at the Minnaert Center is to consist of a mixed repertory program. Tickets can be purchased at www.spscc.ctc.edu/CFA or by calling 360-596-5501. Prices are $20 for general admission, $15 for seniors and South Puget Sound staff, and $10 for students.

ABOUT THE MINNAERT CENTER: The Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts, South Puget Sound Community College’s signature building, houses a 500-seat main stage theater, the Black Box Theater, an exhibition gallery, and state-of-the-art music facilities. In addition, the building’s classrooms for art labs and choral and instrumental music rehearsals offer home bases for the college’s humanities and communication programs.
