Gypsy jazz group spices up South Puget Sound Community College
On Jan. 27 at 8 p.m., South Puget Sound Community College’s Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts opens its doors to Pearl Django, a greatly respected Gypsy jazz group from the Seattle area.
Any follower of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli is sure to enjoy the performance, and Pearl Django also offers musical delights for guitar enthusiasts, lovers of string and bluegrass music, and those who appreciate intricate picking and world music with French and Gypsy accents.
During its 11-year existence, Pearl Django has become a highly sought, award-winning band, earning Seattle Weekly’s “Favorite Area Jazz Band” honor in 2003.
In addition to the main show, Hot Club Sandwich, a leading Django-inspired band, opens the performance. Tickets can be purchased at www.spscc.ctc.edu/CFA or by calling 360-596-5501. Prices are $20 for general admission, $15 for seniors and South Puget Sound staff, and $10 for students.
