Acclaimed pianist performs at South Puget Sound Community College
At 8 p.m. on March 24, pianist Jeanne Stark-Iochmans fills South Puget Sound Community College’s Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts with her award-winning music.
Born in Belgium, Stark-Iochmans graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels where she earned higher marks than anyone had in 20 years. In addition, she received le Prix de Virtuosité a l’unanimaté avec Grande Distinction, the Laure Van Cutsem Prize, and a gold medal from the Belgian government. Along the way, she appeared as a soloist with her country’s national orchestra and was selected to represent Belgium at an international festival of modern music in Bayreuth, Germany.
Highly regarded in Europe and the United States, Stark-Iochmans’ musicianship provides deeply spiritual interpretations of classical music’s most challenging piano repertoire. Her program at the Minnaert Center includes music by Beethoven, Chopin, and Debussy.
Tickets can be purchased at www.spscc.ctc.edu/CFA or by calling 360-596-5501. Prices are $20 for general admission, $15 for seniors and South Puget Sound staff, and $10 for students.
