Frank talk at South Puget Sound Community College
From noon to 1 p.m. on May 24 in Bldg. 26, Room 105 at South Puget Sound Community College, Billy Frank Jr. will give a presentation on tribal sovereignty, economic advancement, and Mother Earth.
Frank is a recipient of the Albert Schweitzer Prize for Humanitarianism, the Martin Luther King Jr. Distinguished Service Award for Humanitarian Achievement, and the American Indian Visionary Award. For years, he has advocated for and taken leadership roles on fisheries conservation and tribal rights issues. As the chairman of the Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission and a Nisqually Tribe elder, he has worked to form partnerships between tribal and non-tribal governments. In addition, the Nisqually Land Trust, the Washington State Centennial Commission, the Salmon Homecoming Advisory Committee, the Puget Sound Shared Salmon Strategy Program, and the Evergreen State College Board of Trustees have all benefited from his involvement.
