Working concludes South Puget Sound Community College’s theatre season
For the final show of South Puget Sound Community College’s 2006-2007 theatre season at the Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts, director Jon Robbins and the actors of the college’s Theatre Department offer “Working.”
The musical uses material from Studs Terkel’s best-selling book of the same name to explore a subject often taken for granted: the American worker. The audience will hear about the lives of a schoolteacher, a parking lot attendant, a waitress, a mill worker, a mason, a fireman, a housewife, and other individuals. In addition, the production will feature historical images of working Olympians. This revised version also includes updated lyrics and two new songs by Stephen Schwartz and James Taylor, all of which promise to enhance the effect of a musical already considered one of the most relevant and substantive plays of its kind.
Showtimes are May 24-26, June 1-2, 8 p.m. and May 27, June 3, 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at www.spscc.ctc.edu/CFA or by calling 360-596-5501. Prices are $10 for general admission and $5 for seniors, students, and South Puget Sound staff.
