Writer punctuates Artists and Lectures Series at South Puget Sound Community College

On June 1 at 8 p.m., Linda Hogan, a Chickasaw poet, novelist and essayist, caps off the 2006-2007 Artists and Lectures Series at South Puget Sound Community College.

Hogan’s works, many of which focus on native tribes’ views about ecosystems, include “Mean Spirit,” “The Book of Medicines,” “The Woman Who Watches over the World” and “Everything Has a Spirit,” a Public Broadcasting Service documentary. She has been nominated for the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Critics Award. Among other honors, she has won a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, a Guggenheim fellowship and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Native Writers Circle of the Americas.

The presentation will take place on the stage in the Student Union Building. Afterward, Hogan will sit for a book signing.
