Pumphrey calls diversity forum

As a first step in creating a strategic plan for South Puget Sound Community College’s future, new president Dr. Gerald Pumphrey means to evaluate the college’s diversity efforts. Pumphrey has scheduled a discussion forum on the topic for Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Bldg. 22, Room 200A.

Over the years, South Puget Sound has been active in diversity development, and currently, it has multiple campus initiatives addressing the issue. To give the strategic planning process a strong foundation, Pumphrey wants to review the history and assess the status of the diversity programs.

The president encourages individuals who have worked on, are currently working on, or want to work on the college’s diversity efforts to attend the discussion and share perspectives. Gillies Malnarich, a representative from the Washington Center for Improving the Quality of Undergraduate Education, will also contribute to the forum.
