Rosemary Powelson's art at South Puget Sound Community College
During December, South Puget Sound Community College’s Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts Gallery showcases the mixed-media collages of Rosemary Powelson. The Minnaert Center has scheduled a reception for her work on Dec. 8 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Using a wide variety of materials and the juxtaposition of polarities like east/west, male/female, and winter/summer, Powelson’s art explores places where opposites meet. Much of her inspiration comes from her travels in the Middle East in 1992. The papers and detritus she collected there and later included in her work reflect the colors, lights, and textures she experienced in the region.
