South Puget Sound Community College brings Lunar Spring Festival to Olympia
On Jan. 26 at 2 p.m., South Puget Sound Community College’s Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts hosts a celebration of the Lunar Spring Festival.
A co-production between South Puget Sound and The Evergreen State College, the event showcases a variety of Asian ensembles, including Hua Yin Dance, Orissi Dance and the Seattle Chinese Orchestra—the only traditional Chinese orchestra in the Pacific Northwest. The event also features vendors and a traditional lion dance.
Traditionally, in Asia, the Lunar Spring Festival heralds the coming of the new year. This year is the year of the rat.
Tickets can be purchased at www.spscc.ctc.edu/CFA or by calling 360-596-5501. Prices are $25 for general admission; $20 for seniors, state workers, military personnel with ID, and South Puget Sound faculty and staff; and $10 for students.
The event is part of the Minnaert Center’s World Stage Series, which brings speakers and performing artists from all over the globe to Olympia.
