South Puget Sound Community College Theatre Program to stage “Five Women Wearing the Same Dress”
Beginning Feb. 22, South Puget Sound Community College’s Theatre Program will begin giving performances of “Five Women Wearing the Same Dress.” All performances will be in the Black Box Theater of the Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts on South Puget Sound’s main campus.
The comedy, which was written by Alan Ball, takes place at an ostentatious wedding reception where five reluctant, identically clad bridesmaids hide out in an upstairs bedroom. The mutual seclusion brings together a sweet but sheltered fundamentalist; a cheerful, wisecracking lesbian; a woman heartbroken by the failure of her own marriage; a precocious rebel with a dark secret; and a jaded beauty. As this wickedly funny, irreverent and touching celebration of the female spirit plays out, these five very different women discover a common bond.
Showtimes are Feb. 22, 23, 8 p.m., Feb. 28-March 1, 8 p.m. and Feb. 24 and March 2, 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at www.spscc.ctc.edu/CFA or by calling 360-596-5501. Prices are $15 for general admission; $10 for seniors, state workers, military personnel with ID, and South Puget Sound faculty and staff; and $5 for students. The Feb. 28 show is “pay what you can” at the door; that show has no pre-sale tickets available.
