Sexual Wellness Fair at South Puget Sound Community College
South Puget Sound Community College will host the first annual Sexual Wellness Fair on March 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Student Union Building (Bldg. 27).
With a theme of “Happy, Healthy Sexuality for Everyone,” the fair, which is free and open to the public, promotes healthy sexuality by offering an assortment of free items, including condoms and lubricants, and by providing free, confidential testing for HIV, gonorrhea and chlamydia. According to health officials, those are the three most common sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) among individuals of traditional college age.
Planned Parenthood, the Providence St. Peter Hospital Sexual Assault Clinic, the Washington State Department of Health’s STD Services and Family Planning programs, the United Communities AIDS Network and other groups will operate information booths.
Additionally, the Thurston County Health Department’s Monica Lyons, South Puget Sound Sociology Professor Erica Dixon, the Washington State Department of Health’s Cynthia Morrison and Mark Stenger, and Planned Parenthood of Olympia will give talks on issues of sexuality. Door prizes will be given at the speaking events.
Free snacks will be available throughout the day.
The fair is sponsored by the Washington State Department of Health in cooperation with the Thurston County Health Department.
