Abrahamson presentation at South Puget Sound Community College documents climate change

Aerial photographer Mark Abrahamson will give a slideshow presentation of photos he has taken in an effort to document climate change on April 22 at 8 p.m. in South Puget Sound Community College’s Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts.

Abrahamson calls climate change caused by global warming “the gravest threat facing the world today.” Glaciers, the polar ice caps and the ice covering Greenland are all receding; the intensity of hurricanes and tropical storms is increasing; and sea levels are predicted to rise significantly.

Abrahamson’s photographs show the effects of these changes, giving people an artist’s perspective on a worldwide issue. A resident of the Puget Sound area, he says he was inspired to photograph instances of climate change because of how they could impact himself and the rest of humankind.

Tickets for the event can be purchased at www.spscc.ctc.edu/CFA or by calling 360-596-5501. Prices are $25 for general admission; $20 for seniors, state workers, military personnel with ID, and South Puget Sound faculty and staff; and $10 for students.

The event is part of the Minnaert Center’s World Stage Series, which brings speakers and performing artists from all over the globe to Olympia.
