South Puget Sound Community College hosts Opportunity Grant information sessions
On Sept. 27, South Puget Sound Community College will host two information sessions for students who are eligible for aid from the Opportunity Grant the college received this year.
The Opportunity Grant helps students who are Washington state residents; have incomes at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level; can demonstrate financial need; and are seeking career training in accounting, automotive technology, early childhood development, medical assisting, office skills or welding.
Those who are eligible for the grant and would like to attend an information session can choose the 5:30 p.m. or the 6:30 p.m. session. Both sessions will be held in Bldg. 26, Room 105 on the college’s Mottman Road campus.
Money from the grant can cover tuition and fees for up to 45 credits and as much as $1,000 of books, tools and supplies per academic year. The funds can also help pay for emergency childcare and emergency transportation. In addition, students receive career coaching and mentoring and are eligible to participate in the college’s student leadership program.
