Kyle Eastwood brings jazz and familiar last name to South Puget Sound Community College
On Oct. 11 at 8 p.m., jazz bassist Kyle Eastwood, the son of actor-director Clint Eastwood, will perform at South Puget Sound Community College’s Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts.
Eastwood grew up on jazz and spent years playing gigs around New York City before signing with Sony Music. In 2006, he released his third album, “Now.” He has also composed music for the Academy Award-winning films “Mystic River” and “Million Dollar Baby,” both directed by his father. Last year, he and guitarist Michael Stevens composed the scores for “Flags of Our Fathers” and “Letters from Iwo Jima,” two more films his father directed.
Eastwood’s band includes Stevens; Graeme Flowers on trumpet; saxophonist Graeme Blevins; Martyn Kaine on drums; and pianist Andrew McCormack.
Local favorite Joe Baque and his New York Trio will open for Eastwood. Baque has played background for Louis Armstrong, Stan Getz, Coleman Hawkins and others.
