Art from Bastai and De La Cruz featured at South Puget Sound Community College

For its November exhibit, the gallery at South Puget Sound Community College’s Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts presents works by painter Betty Bastai and sculptor Shilo De La Cruz. A reception from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 2 opens the exhibit.

Bastai uses watercolor, pastels, charcoal and graphite paper to create her pieces. Her work has been exhibited at the Whatcom Museum of History and Art, the Viking Union Gallery and the Skagit Valley College Art Gallery.

De La Cruz’s work appeared at the second annual Regional Juried Art Exhibit, and she is bringing a new collection of two- and three-dimensional, socially oriented pieces this time around. Through the mixed mediums of concrete and steel sculpture, paper art, oil painting, and ceramic sculpture and relief, she addresses the concepts of separation and wholeness in society.

Hours for the gallery at the Minnaert Center are Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.
