Former ambassador to speak at South Puget Sound Community College about U.S.-Latin American relations
On Nov. 14 at 8 p.m., John Hamilton, who twice served as United States ambassador, will speak at South Puget Sound Community College’s Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts.
Hamilton, the ambassador to Peru (1999-2002) and Guatemala (2002-2005), will discuss relations between the U.S. and Latin America. In more than 30 years with the U.S Foreign Service, he has worked in Spain and Greece and throughout Latin America. Along with the ambassadorships, his list of assignments includes political counselor to San Jose, Costa Rica, and Lima, Peru; director of the Office of Central American and Panamanian Affairs; and principle deputy assistant secretary of state for Western Hemisphere Affairs. He has received the Department of State’s Superior Honor Award four times.

The event is part of the Minnaert Center’s World Stage Series, which brings presenters and entertainers from all over the globe to Olympia.
