Degree options

  • Associate Degree - Computer Programming
    An Associate in Technical Arts degree or an Associate of Applied Science degree will be awarded upon successful completion of a minimum of 90 credits in courses numbered 100 or above. All core and general education list requirements must be met, with any additional credits to be selected as electives.
  • Associate Degree - Database Management
    An Associate in Technical Arts degree will be awarded upon successful completion of a minimum of 90 credits in courses numbered 100 or above. All core and general education list requirements must be met, with any additional credits to be selected as electives.

The focus of telecommunications technology is computer networking-sharing of information among all components involved, such as printer, optical disks, servers, electronic mail and databases. At South Puget Sound Community College you'll acquire the knowledge necessary to set up, enhance and maintain information systems in a variety of commercial and residential settings.

Opportunities
The program qualifies students for employment in industries involving installation and maintenance of computers and computer network equipment and systems. Technicians may work in production, engineering support, or field service.

What You'll Do Here
Studies include computer network concepts, cable and connections, system management, microcomputers and a variety of operating systems.

You may also choose related courses in such areas as personal computer care and maintenance, digital electronics, semiconductors and microprocessors. Both Electronics Technology and Telecommunications Technology are two-year programs.
