CNA 111 Electronics for Networking 5
Credits
A preparatory course for technicians interested in introductory skills and
knowledge related to network electronics and cabling issues. Students will build
and test electrical circuits to gain understanding of fundamental electrical
principles and develop basic skills in handling components and networking
equipment. An introduction to the physical aspects of voice and data network
cabling and installation. Provides an understanding of the industry and its
worldwide standards, types of media and cabling, physical and logical networks,
and signal transmission. Prerequisite: MATH 094 or
instructor's permission.

CNA 113 Cabling and Connecting Networks 3 Credits
An introduction to the physical aspects of voice and data network cabling and
installation. Focuses on cabling issues related to data and voice connections.

CNA 130 Introduction to Linux/Unix 5 Credits
An introduction to UNIX and UNIX-like operating systems. Learn system
fundamentals from the perspective of a new user. Understand the shell interface, utilities and basic characteristics of the operating system. Create introductory shell programs using the Vi text editor. Study system commands using pipes and redirection. Study similarities between a generic UNIX system and a typical Linux system distribution. Install, maintain, and configure a Unix/Linux Operating System. Understanding services and basic Unix/Linux system fundamentals. Prerequisite: READ 097.

CNA 221 Microsoft Network Infrastructure Management I 5
Credits
First of two courses covering network services. A detailed examination of the TCP/IP protocol, routing, remote access and name resolution protocols in a Microsoft environment. Incorporates IP addressing, automatic IP addressing (DHCP). Remote Access and Routing Services (RRAS), Network Address Translation (NAT), and Name Resolution (DNS and WINS). Includes troubleshooting and an added emphasis on planning services. Requires a strong understanding of the Windows XP Professional and Windows 2003 Server operating systems. Prerequisite: Completion of CNA 121, and CNA 122 or instructor’s permission.

CNA 222 Microsoft Active Directory 5 Credits
A rigorous exploration of the Microsoft Active Directory. Includes
configuring DNS for Active Directory, installing and configuring Active
Directory, Active Directory management, administering Group Policies, and
troubleshooting Active Directory. Requires a solid foundation in the
server operating system and network infrastructure. Prerequisite: CNA 221 or instructor’s permission.

CNA 223 Microsoft Network Security Design 5 Credits
A comprehensive examination of security issues on Microsoft networks.
Analysis of corporate business models and information technology
infrastructure for information security. Design and implementation of
security baselines. Design and implementation of various organizational
security policies such as resource access, audit, and security group
utilization, Group Policy configuration, Encrypting File System,
authentication, network services and remote access policies. Prepares
students for the MCSE Security Design Exam. Prerequisite: CNA 221,
completion of, or concurrent enrollment in CNA 222 or instructor's
permission.

A continuation of CNA 140, NetWare Administration. Advanced topics
including planning file system structure and security, planning Novell
Directory Serviced (NDS) structure and security, server management, planning
NDS replication and partitioning, planning time synchronization, configuring
and troubleshooting TCP/IP, installing a NetWare server and developing
an NDS tree. Prepares students for the Novell Advanced Administration

CNA 260 Windows Scripting 5 Credits
An introduction to Windows Scripting. Native and Object-oriented scripts
will be developed, focusing on object manipulation, and modular programming.
Program structure and logic will be emphasized in the context of providing
useful, user-friendly scripts using the technologies available from VBScript
and Windows native scripting. Prerequisite: CIS

Hardware assembly and configuration, installation and user support
of Microsoft network servers and clients. Configuration, installation
