PARA 220 Assisting in the Classroom 5 Credits
Strategies for assisting certified teachers in a K-12 classroom setting with student instruction, behavior management, clerical functions and parental contact based on Washington State Skill Standards and Competencies for Paraeducators. Prerequisite: WRIT 101, PARA 225 or concurrent, EDUC 101 or ECE 102, ECE 235, EDUC 120, EDUC 215, EDUC 225, EDUC 230. Obtain instructor's permission before registering.
PARA 225 Practicum for Paraeducators 4 Credits
Supervised observation and participation in a school setting six hours
per week: applying guidance techniques, adapting and implementing curriculum activities for individuals and small groups, and working cooperatively with staff. Two hour seminar per week. Prerequisite: WRIT 101, PARA 220 or concurrent, EDUC 101 or ECE 102, ECE 235, EDUC 120, EDUC 215, EDUC 225, EDUC 230. Obtain instructors permission before registering.
