Increasing one's understanding of one's self and others by acquiring and improving interpersonal skills including: recognizing and correcting communication errors; active listening, good self-concept, nonverbal awareness and interpretation, emotional influences, conflict resolution. An introduction to the study of the psychology behind health and health related behaviors representing the integration of physical health with behavior and mental processes. The biopsychosocial approach used will integrate the understanding and application of biological, psychological, and social factors as they relate to one's health and overall well being. Some topics covered include stress and wellness, the adoption of healthy behaviors, and the avoidance of maladaptive behaviors. Prerequisite: None.
