Although our goal is to continually award, other work load commitments require our attention. If you miss the deadline, we can not guarantee you notification in time for tuition payment. However, if you register and pay for your classes using other resources, you may be eligible for retroactive funds when your file is reviewed, subject to funds availability.

You must notify Financial Aid of any funding you are receiving from other sources. This will be used in determining your eligibility to avoid an over-award of financial aid.

Only those students whose program of study require summer quarter attendance will be considered for additional aid. However, students returning in fall quarter may work full-time using State Work-Study funds during the summer.

Student Employment Services maintains a job board in Building 25 listing employment opportunities for students.

South Puget Sound Community College Foundation Scholarship applications are available in March. A national and local scholarship database is located in building 25. FASTWEB (Financial Aid Search through the WEB) offers a database of more than 180,000 private sector scholarships. The address for the financial aid information page is http://www.finaid.org. We also provide applications for donors that are offering scholarships.

You are not eligible for any funds until you have paid your debts in full and/or you are no longer in default.

You may owe a repayment for the grants received and if a student loan was part of your award, you will enter into your grace period immediately and your lender will be notified. Withdrawing may also result in a suspension or probation status. If you are on financial aid, it is advisable to consult with our office prior to adding or dropping any classes. Your academic progress is monitored very closely.

If the college is offering a program abroad that is required of your eligible program of study, funds may be available to you. Contact the Financial Aid Office for more information.

You are strongly encouraged to apply for scholarships both locally (see the information in the question above) and nationally (www.fastweb.com). An additional resource is called an Alternative Student Loan. These are loans provided by various lenders throughout the nation that target funding for students. These loans are NOT insured by the Federal government and are private programs. Borrowers (and in come instances co-borrowers) are subject to credit history checks.
