This fall, the Washington Scholarship Coalition, comprised of public and private organizations including The Seattle Foundation, is launching theWashBoard.org, to make it easier for Washington students to efficiently find and apply for relevant scholarship opportunities. 

Free of cost for both students and providers, theWashBoard.org acts as a clearinghouse with vetted scholarship information and matches those seeking scholarship support with those looking to provide it.

  • FastWeb- searchable database of more than 180,000 private scholarships, fellowships, grants and loans.  http://www.fast.web.com
  • SRN Express (Scholarship Resource Network)- database of college financial aid and scholarship information as well as student loan forgiveness programs.  http://www.srnexpress.com

  • American Indian College Fund- raises money for the 30 tribal colleges located across the United States  http://collegefund.org
  • Kids’ Chance of Washington is a need-based scholarship program for the dependent children and spouses of workers killed or seriously disabled in a workplace accident in Washington. It was founded in 2001 as one of 20 states helping kids to achieve their desired future  www.kidschancewa.com
  • College Fund/UNCF- an educational assistance organization with 40 private, historically black, member colleges and universities.  http://www.uncf.org
  • Hispanic College Fund, INC. providing scholarships to Hispanic undergraduates student http://hsf.net
  • Mary M Fraijo Scholarship- awarding scholarships to students pursing bachelor’s degrees in accounting  http://www.aswa4org
  • Morris K. Udall Scholarship Program- for native Americas and Alaskan natives pursuing studies related to the environment  http://act.org.udall
  • National Academy of American Scholars- private organizations that award high school seniors and college freshman  http://www.naas.org
  • Supporting education and leadership to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) and straight-ally students.   prideFoundationScholar.org

Avoid Scholarship Scams with these telltale signs…

  • The scholarship is guaranteed or your money back
  • You can't get this information anywhere else
  • I just need your credit card or bank account number to hold this scholarship
  • We'll do all the work
  • The scholarship will cost some money
  • You've been selected by a "national foundation' to receive a scholarship" or "You're a finalist," in a contest you never entered
