For more than a decade, the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) has entered into a data sharing agreement with the Washington State Employment Security Department (ESD) that allowed the State Board office to obtain employment information, including employment status and wages, on students enrolled in the community and technical college system for the purpose of meeting state and federal reporting requirements as well as outcomes analysis.
Federal reporting requirements necessitate the use of employment matching. Examples include Perkins Accountability and the National Reporting System (NRS) for Adult Education programs.
Starting with the 2013-2014 academic year, we are required to ask for your informed consent in order to use your Social Security Number to obtain employment and wage information held by the Employment Security Department for the purposes of state and federal educational reporting, evaluation and research.
You will be asked for your consent during the registration process. You will also have the opportunity to decline to allow the college to use your Social Security Number for this purpose.
