Spring Concert Celebrates Patriotic Selections

The South Puget Sound Community College Concert Choir and the Puget Sound Community Choir will present their spring concert, A Salute to America, featuring songs celebrating America, on Wednesday, June 5. The American Legion Department of Washington Band, led by Conductor Kevin Roberston and Manager/Associate Conductor Diana Appler, will be featured in the concert.
Selections will include choral arrangements of American folk songs, show tunes, and classics form the 1940s. The band will play a symphonic piece (“Elegy for the USS Arizona”), before the band and choir join forces for “Battle Hymn of the Republic.” The choir men will sing “Navy Hymn” before veteran and active military members are honored with the theme of their respective branches of service. Last, but certainly not least, the audience is invited to sing along to “God Bless America.”
The concert will take place at the Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts and begins at 7 p.m. The choir director is Molly McNamara and the piano accompanist is Jennifer Hermann.
