Running Start Fee/Tuition Waiver

Running Start students are required to pay all applicable tuition and fees for the courses they take at South Puget Sound Community College.  Running Start students can apply for a Fee/Tuition Waiver if they meet the income criteria for the USDA WIC program.

  • The waiver does not include all fees. Students have a minimum $15.00 matriculation fee they are responsible for paying by tuition due date each quarter. There may be other fees the student is responsible for based on the type of course they are enrolled in. Fees must be paid in person at the Cashier’s Office in building 25.
  • The application must be completed online. The application is available July 1st to the 10th day of spring quarter each academic year. Applications and documentation must be turned in by the 10th day of each quarter to apply for that quarter.
  • Documentation must be submitted to Enrollment Services. Enrollment Services is located in building 25. Applications will not be processed until documentation is received. Qualifying documentation is a copy of last year’s tax return naming the student as a dependent.

The 2013-14 Fee & Tuition Waiver application is now active
Applications are processed once a week. Students will be notified the following week of approval or denial via email. Please check your junk mail folder or add to your safe senders list.

 

FTW Application & Documentation due by 5:00pm to be processed prior to Book Loan application opening

Book Loan applications submitted without an approved FTW will be rejected.  This will jeopardize the student’s ability to receive book loan assistance.

If the application and/or documentation are turned in after the deadline the student must pay all owing fees/tuition on their account to hold their courses.  Students will be refunded 100% of the overpayment as long as the application and documentation is received by the 10th day of the quarter.  Refunds take a minimum of two weeks to process after the FTW has been approved.

Applications tuned in after the deadline will be processed for the next subsequent quarter and good for the remainder of the academic school year. 

 

Running Start Book Loan

A student must qualify for Fee/Tuition Waiver in order to apply for book loan.  Please see the Running Start Fee/Tuition Waiver information on the back of this handout.  Book loan has limited funds available each quarter to assist students in the purchase of their text books.

  • Book Loan applications are accepted beginning at 7:30am.  The application will remain open for three days.  See the important dates below. 
  • The application must be completed online.  In person applications will not be accepted.  Students must supply a list of required text books.  It is recommended that students go out to the bookstore’s webpage to copy and paste the information into the application. 
  • Loans are valid for one academic quarter.  Students must resubmit the book loan application each quarter to apply for a new loan. 
  • Books must be returned to Enrollment Services.  If a student fails to return books by the due date given in the book voucher they will be unable to apply for book loan in future quarters.

  • Book Loan can only cover text books- It does not cover lab books, electronic key codes or other supplies required for courses.
  • Book loan may only be partial funding- students may still have book costs they are responsible for.  How much we can cover varies from quarter to quarter based on how many applications are received and the required text books for the courses.  It is important for students to secure funds to cover the expense of their books in the outcome that funding is not available for the quarter.
  • Students must be enrolled in courses for the upcoming quarter- The book loan application will automatically be denied if the student is not registered for classes for the upcoming quarter that they are applying for assistance.  If the student changes courses after they submit a book loan application funding will not be supplied or altered for the new courses.  Funding is based on the original course submissions.  The student forfeits funding if they change courses.
