South Puget Sound Community College has received a five-year, $2.25 million Title III Strengthening Institutions Grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The grant, the largest single grant in the college’s history, was announced by Congressman Denny Heck, D-10th District, at the college’s Oct. 4 Foundation event, The Experience.

Sep 10th, 2014 SPSCC Orchestra Program Grows, Adds For-Credit Class
The South Puget Sound Community College Orchestra is now available to both students and community members. Previously offered solely through the Community Education program, the SPSCC Orchestra is a new a multi-generational orchestra made up of community musicians and credit-bearing students enrolled in the college.
South Puget Sound Community College opens its 2014-15 Artist and Lecture Series with Japanese-Canadian novelist, filmmaker and Zen Buddhist priest Ruth Ozeki. Ozeki will speak from her latest book, “A Tale for the Time Being," on Thursday, Oct. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts Main Stage.
South Puget Sound Community College will be closed twice during its 2014 Kickoff Week (Sept. 15-19) as preparations for the beginning of fall quarter take place. Both closures will take place during all-campus meetings.
Sep 3rd, 2014 College Returns to Regular Hours of Operation Sept. 15
South Puget Sound Community College returns to regular business hours beginning Monday, Sept. 15. The college had been on summer hours of operation, which saw the Olympia campus closed on Fridays. Beginning Sept. 15, the college office hours are Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Fall quarter classes begin Monday, Sept. 22.
Aug 28th, 2014 Men's Hoops Holding Open Tryout
The South Puget Sound Community College men's basketball team is hosting an open tryout on Thursday, Sept. 11 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the gym. Participants must bring a reversible jersey with a number on it, or a plain white shirt that can be marked on.
South Puget Sound Community College will have a familiar face on the bench when the women’s hoops season begins. Assistant coach Mike Moore has been hired to take the reins for the Clippers, succeeding Mychael Heuer, who stepped down in July to focus on his personal health. Moore had been an assistant under Heuer from 2010-13, including a short one-month stint as interim head coach during the 2011-12 season.
Aug 19th, 2014 Mottman Entrance Closed Monday, Aug. 25
On Monday, Aug. 25 the Mottman Road entrance will be closed as City of Olympia crews continue work on the road itself.
Aug 14th, 2014 Stormwater Maintenance Means Road Closure Monday
Beginning Monday, Aug. 18, traffic entering campus through Mottman Road will be routed left only along Dr. Nels Hanson Way.
Aug 13th, 2014 Buses Return to Crosby Loop
Intercity Transit buses serving SPSCC have returned to using the Crosby Loop effective immediately.
