The South Puget Sound Community College Bookstore has announced an innovative textbook rental program designed to lower the cost of textbooks for students while providing students the choice between renting or purchasing textbooks.
The South Puget Sound Bookstore has made a select number of its most popular textbooks available for rental to students for fall quarter 2010. Director of the South Puget Sound Bookstore Bryce Winkelman said renting textbooks can cut students cost in half, adding that rented textbooks save students 30 to 60 percent of the cost of a new book on every rental, offering students an economical choice for textbooks.
“Textbook affordability is a key concern for many college students,” Winkelman said. “They are searching for quality textbooks at affordable rates. Many students have turned to the Internet searching for lower priced textbooks. By renting textbooks through the store, students will save up to 60 percent off the cost of the new textbook and are assured the correct book without having to search multiple online sites for the best deal.”
The process is easy; just rent, use and return. Students simply choose rentable textbooks when available, use them all quarter and return them on or before the last day of finals for the term.
“Renting textbooks through the South Puget Sound Bookstore offers students advantages in addition to lower prices,” Winkelman said. “Most importantly, students can expect the same high level of customer service, and because there are no shipping fees, waiting time or errors, students get the right book at the right price at the right time. Plus, reusing textbooks promotes recycling and encourages a green attitude.”
Textbook rentals are available beginning Monday, Aug. 23 for books required for the fall 2010 term. For more information, visit the bookstore online at www.spsccbookstore.com or via phone at (360)596-5303.
