South Puget Sound Community College to hold 2011 Commencement

Nearly 1,300 degrees and certificates will be handed out, as South Puget Sound Community College holds it 2011 commencement ceremony June 17, 2011, at 6 p.m. on the grounds of the campus' soccer field.
This year, the college will hand out 1,298 degrees and certificates. Also, 17 students have earned their high school diplomas and 179 will receive their GEDs.
Philosophy Professor Steve Dickerson will deliver the faculty address, and student Ray Sotilo Calica will be the student speaker at the event. After losing his job, Calica studied at the college through the Worker Retraining Program. He had worked in the lumber industry for 35 years. He will earn an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Computer Aided Drafting and a Certificate of Completion in Building Information Modeling.
A reception will follow the awarding of degrees.
