The South Puget Sound Community College Medical Assisting Program is launching a new cohort this spring quarter to enable more students to enter this growing field.
A medical assistant assists a physician or practitioner in many aspects of medical practice. These aspects might include patient care management, administrative procedures and clinical procedures. Medical assistants often assist in an administrative capacity as well, and requires a knowledge of ethical and legal standards, recognition and response to medical emergencies, and strong communication.
The new series will start with Medical Office Exposure Control (MED 101) and Medical Administrative Procedures (MED 151). The new cohort is also limited to 25 students, so interested students should sign up early.
