The Baking and Pastry Arts Program at South Puget Sound Community College provides students with entry level bakery skills. Instruction occurs in structured lecture and lab environments, where practical hands-on experience is acquired. The module based program gives students the opportunity to work with yeast breads, cookies, quick breads, mousses, pastries, cakes and tortes, and pies.

Graduates of the Baking and Pastry Arts Program qualify for employment as a baker, in restaurants, bakeries, hotels, resorts, institutions, catering kitchens, clubs, and executive dining services.

What You'll Do Here
Many of your lessons will take place in the classroom, but the core of your education will take place in the college’s kitchens and dining rooms. We maintain a low student-to-faculty ratio and have a first-rate facility.

* A Thurston County Food Handler's Permit must be obtained before entry into the program. Individuals without this permit will not be allowed to enter instructional kitchens or work areas.
